The core equipment of the infrastructure center consists of a Union Biometrica COPAS Biosort machine. It is a flow sorter with a large flow cell for sorting large samples. The key features of the instrument at the center are:

- Flow cell of 250µm size, ideal for all stages of C. elegans, but also useful for other applications such as stem cells, cell clusters.
- Two solid state lasers (488 nm and 561 nm), allowing for the analysis of fluorescent excitation in the green, yellow and red spectrum.
- Sorting of samples based on size and fluorescence into tubes or microtiter plates.
- ReFLx Sampler, for analysis of samples in microtiter plates.
- Advanced Acquisition Package, for enhanced sensitivity and acquisition rates.
- Profiler II, for analyzing fluorescent signal intensities along the sample, e.g., body axis of C. elegans.
